Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 19 2026 · Last updated: August 19 2026
TheDeclutterDesk (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates thedeclutterdesk.com (the “site”). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
When you contact us through the form on our Contact page or email us directly, we collect whatever you include: your name, email address, and the content of your message. If you sign up for our email list (including any future lead magnet like the Keep-or-Toss Decision Framework), we collect your email address and, if provided, your name.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical data when you visit, through cookies and similar tracking technologies. This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, time spent on the site, referring URL, and general location (city or region level, not precise).
Cookies
We use cookies for site functionality, analytics, and advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking them may affect how parts of the site work.
| Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Essential | Basic site functionality, security, and the contact form (via Forminator) |
| Analytics | Understanding how visitors use the site so we can improve it, via Google Analytics 4 (GA4) |
We don’t currently run display advertising on this site. If that changes, we’ll update this section to name the ad network and describe its cookies and opt-out options before any ads go live.
How we use your information
- Responding to your messages and questions
- Sending emails you’ve opted into, like new article notifications or a requested download
- Understanding which content is useful so we can write more of it
- Detecting and preventing spam, abuse, and security issues
- Serving and measuring advertising, where applicable
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Third-party services we use
We work with outside services to run the site. Each handles data under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.
- Amazon Associates: we participate in the Amazon Associates affiliate program. When you click certain product links and make a purchase, Amazon may set its own cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): helps us understand site traffic and usage patterns.
- Kit: manages our email list and sends any newsletters or downloads you’ve signed up for. If you subscribe, your email address and any info you provide is stored in Kit under its own privacy policy.
- Forminator: powers our contact form and processes and stores the messages you submit through it.
Your privacy choices
Email preferences
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time, and we’ll stop sending future messages, though it may take a few days to process.
Cookie choices
You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings at any time. We don’t currently run display advertising, so there’s no ad-network opt-out to manage yet, we’ll add one here if that changes.
If you’re in California
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to request access to, deletion of, or details about the personal information we’ve collected. We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising today, since we don’t run an ad network yet. To make a request, email us at hello@thedeclutterdesk.com with “California Privacy Request” in the subject line.
If you’re in the EU or UK
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@thedeclutterdesk.com. [If the site uses a cookie consent banner for EU/UK visitors, describe it here and confirm the specific consent management tool.]
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Data retention
We keep contact form submissions and email list data for as long as needed to respond to you, run our email program, or meet legal and business record-keeping needs, then delete or anonymize it. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of the tools listed above.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted here.
